What's happening..
Our group was founded in 2004 in response to the closing of Sal Hollow to horses - but now our efforts have paid off! As of yesterday, September 1, 2011, Sal Hollow is now re-opened to horses. Just in time for the beautiful fall riding season! Please see the link below for the full story on the park's website:

Many thanks to the tireless efforts of all who wrote letters, participated in the workdays and generated interest in this issue.
However, while regaining the use of this trail is great, we must always be watchful of all trail closure threats when they occur.
Stay abreast of where we stand and what is being done to support the equine riders in Kentucky and how you can help.
There is nothing more beautiful and fun as riding a horse through the beautiful backcountry horse trails at Mammoth Cave National Park. MCETRA is an organization dedicated to supporting the numerous equine riders that visit our state. We participate in volunteer work days to help keep the NPS trails in good condition. We represent the trail riding community when it comes to issues that affect the back country trails of Mammoth Cave and other trails in the state. We schedule activities to bring the community of horse riders together for group rides and outings.
